Aims & scope
The EGU General Assembly 2017 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience. The EGU is looking forward to cordially welcoming you in Vienna.
Note on hotel reservations
Please note that the congress ECCIMD2017 (10,000 participants) will take place in Vienna at the same time as the EGU2017. In addition, the Vienna City Marathon (40,000 participants) will take place on Sunday, resulting in many hotels being fully booked the night before. Therefore, we strongly recommend booking accommodation as soon as possible.
Mentors and mentees: apply to the EGU mentoring programme
For the first time, the EGU is offering a mentoring programme for novice conference attendees and early career scientists at its annual General Assembly. The programme aims to facilitate new connections that may lead to long-term professional relationships within the Earth, planetary and space science communities. The programme promises to be a rewarding experience for both mentees and mentors, so do consider signing up!
March for Science
On 22 April, Earth Day and the day before the start of the EGU General Assembly, scientists and science enthusiasts across the globe will be marching to celebrate science and to call for the safeguarding of its future. A satellite march organised by local researchers is taking place in Vienna. Conference attendees interested in participating in the march should follow the updates from Science March Vienna on Twitter and Facebook or check the March for Science Vienna website. As more details become available, stay tuned to the EGU's social media channels too, as we will also share updates.
